Bibles and family trees
The old Boer folk knew where their strength came from. Their Bibles were covered with thick leather for protection and on the first few pages you will find the family tree. This was normally the most valuable item in the house.
The second photo shows the colourful page with the family info in the Bible of Hendrik Tejaart Jacobus Duvenhage (4 Nov 1855) and Anna Catharina Dorothea Liebenberg (7 July 1856).
They got married on 8 April 1872. The inscription read: "Gelijk het gras is ons kortstondig leven, Gelijk een bloem die op het veld verheven."
With every birth, the date and name was added. They had 3 sons, of which 1 died at birth. Also 1 of the 6 daughters never got a name.

Ghost caught in photo at the Burgersdorp Museum
We've just taken 2 cameras and took about 50 photos, and you can see how there is movement. The first few photo's had 1 or 2 "ghosts" but some of the later photo's were filled, more then less etc.
In another room, where the curator hear footsteps sometimes(when there is nobody else in the building), of twelve photo's taken at the same angle, only 1 "spot" came up in 1 photo. Other rooms show nothing, even the room where the old man died in his chair did not show anything.
Taken 1 year after the first photo's, with a different camera.
